SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Richard Pond Sr, 5 Mar 1794 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- I Richard Pond Sr being at this time in a low state of health but of sound mind & memory doth make & ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following, viz: Item: I give & bequeath unto my two sons Drewry and William four hundred & four? acres of land, it being equally divided, at one hundred & fifty pounds each, reserving the widows dower out of each. The somes above to be accounted for as part of my estate. Item: I gie & bequeath unto my wife Mary Pond two feather beds & furniture & my riding mare & four cows & calfs, three ewes & lambs, three sows & pigs & pounds cash to have during her life. ( I don't see an amount specified) Item: I give & bequesath unto my daughter Nancy Magee one feather bed & furniture, one cow & calf, & one chest which she has received (value thirteen pounds, fifteen shillings) to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give unto my son Drewry one feather bed & furniture & one chest, which he has received & a cow & calf in all value thirteen pounds, fifteen shillings, to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give to my son William thirteen pounds, fifteen shillings to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give to my daughter Diannah Pond thirteen pounds, fifteen shillings to her & her heirs forever. Item: I give to my son Samuel thirteen pounds, fifteen shillings to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give to my daughter Mary Pond thirteen pounds, fifteen shillings to her & her heirs forever. Item: I give to my son Daniel Pond thirteen pounds, fifteen shillings to him & his heirs forever. (there is an ink blot over the first letter of name - all that is readable is "aniel". Item: I give to my son Daniel Pond thirteen pounds, fifteen shillings to him and his heirs forever. (if above name is Daniel, then the name appears twice) Item: After my legacies & just debts are paid, the residue of my estate (to be) sold to the highest bidder and equally divided among all my children (each & every one of them) giving my estate credit for their different sums above mentioned. I hereby constitute and appoint my loving wife Mary & two sons Drewry & William Pond my whole & sole Executors to this my Last Will & Testament.
