SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS - Everett RAIFORD, 4 Jul 1913 ----¤¤¤---- [typewritten, except for clerks' signatures] [p.] 259 [...] In the name of God, Amen, I Everett RAIFORD of Southampton County in the State of Va., do make this my last Will & testament as follows: First: I desire all of my just debts & funeral expenses paid out of my estate by my executor hereinafter named as soon after my death as can conveniently be done. Second: I give & bequeath to my beloved wife, Martha C. RAIFORD, the farm on which I now reside during her natural life. Third: I give & bequeath to my daughter Rosa Delia WINSLOW, twenty-five ($25.) Dollars, to be paid out of my personal estate the remainder of my personal estate after paying funeral expenses, debts, costs of qualification etc. I give to my wife, Martha C. RAIFORD, absolutely. Fourth: After the death of my wife, Martha C. RAIFORD, I desire that the said farm on which I now reside be equally divided between James E. RAIFORD, George T. [should read 'F.' for "Fox"] RAIFORD & Jeremiah RAIFORD, those of my sons, with the condition, however, that my daughter Lilly May RAIFORD is to have a home in the dwelling house on the said farm & good & comfortable support from the proceeds thereof during her single life. Said home & support to begin after my death & continue through the life of my wife, Martha C. RAIFORD as well as after her death. Fifth: In the event that either of my sons above named should be in debt to me at my death the same is to be paid by them & become a part of my personal estate & be a lien on their interest in said land or their part thereof until paid. Sixth: I appoint John T. RAIFORD, executor of this my will & desire that no security be required of him as such. Witness my hand this 4th. day of July, 1913 Everett RAIFORD. A writing purporting to be the last Will and testament of Everett RAIFORD, deceased, was produced in the Clerk's Office for probate and proved by the oaths of F.P. PULLEY and Jno. T. RAIFORD, the two subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded as and for the last Will and testament of Everett RAIFORD, deceased, And on motion of Jno. T. [page break] [p.] 260 RAIFORD, the Executor therein named, who made oath according to law, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of Nine Hundred Dollars, conditioned as the law directs, but without security, the will directing that none be required, which bond is ordered to be recorded. Certificate is granted the said Jno. T. RAIFORD for obtaining a probate of the said Will in due form . And on the motion of said Executor, F.H. STEPHENSON, E.J. Ragford [typo] and A.J.
