SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Catharine Ramsay, 8 Mar 1794 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Catharine Ramsay of Southampton County in Virginia being in perfect sense and memory, thanks be to God for it, but very weak in body do call to mind that it is appointed for all persons once to die and after that to judgment, I do make this my last will & testament in manner & form as followeth: And, first and principally I do recommend my soul to almighty God that gave it. And secondly, my body to be decently buried at the hand of my Executors here-after named & for such worldy estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with, I dispose of as followeth: Item: I give and bequeath to my well belov'd son James Ramsey all my plantation utensils, the working tools, one cart & wheels & geece?, one great pott & frying pann & one sorrell mare & his choise of my cows & calf and one heifer, big with calf, one sow & six pigs & all the corn that the bacon & half the hogs, al? and the flax while shackle and the stand of bees & all moneys due me when collected. Item: I give and bequeath to my well belov'd daughter Lydia Ramsay, one grey horse, bridle & saddle, one feather bed & furniture, all my pewter plates, one basen, one dish, one case of knives & forks, one loom & geese & two necessary tubs. Item: I give to my belov'd daughter Mary Morgan one feather bed & furniture. Item: I give to my belov'd grandson Arthur Westbrook four head of sheep. Item: I give to my belov'd grand daughter Tonny Westbrook one cow & calf & one 700 slay. Item: I give to my beloved Temperance Moore one feather bed & furniture. Now it my wish and desire that all the rest of my estate be sold consisting of bacon and hogs, lard, two head of cattle & eleven head of hogs, three woolen wheels, to p.cotton cards and pewter & crockery ware and all the rest of my estate of all things & the money arising from it to be equally divided between my six children: Henry Ramsay, James Ramsay, Lydia Ramsay, Mary Morgan, Catharine Westbrook, Temperance Moore.
