SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Jack Edwards Ridley, 26 Dec 1793 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will: Jack Edwards Ridley, Southampton Co, VA (1793) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Jack Edwards Ridley no (know) my life very uncertain and now being unwell tho sound in mind and memory do make this my last will and testament revoking all others heretofore made and this my Will to take place from the 26th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety three. Item: It is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid. Item: I lend to my beloved wife Jane Ridley for the tenderness I bear for her as a husband, the use of my plantation with the advantage of my orchards, houses, fences and any and every advantage & profit belonging to said land & plantation where I now live during her natural life or widowhood. Item: After or at the death of my wife Jane Ridley or marriage I give & bequeath to my friend and brother by law William Wright for the good will and respect I bear for him the plantation I now lend to my wife Jane Ridley which is where I now live to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give to my belov'd wife Jane Ridley all my negro's I now possess & their increase to her and her disposal also all and every part of my estate real & personal that I have not before mention'd or may hereafter fall to me by law or otherways. I also nominate my wife Jane Ridley and William Wright my whole and sole Executors to this my Last Will & Testament given from under my hand and seal this 26 day of December in the year of our Lord 1793.
