SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Matthew Ridley, 13 Apr 1795 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will: Matthew Ridley, St. Lukes Parish, Southampton Co, VA (1795) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Matthew Ridley of Southampton County and Parish of St. Lukes being sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind & memory, thanks be to almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will & testament in manner and form following: Imprimis: I give and bequeath to my beloved mother Sarah Drew the following negros: R__t?, Andrew, Joshua, Dick, Tinah, Lucy, Raney, Lyddia, Luke, Chloe, Abram, Davy, Moses, Solomon, Huldy and all their future increase, also five beds & furniture to her and heirs forever. I also lend her the hole of my other negros not mentioned above, also my land & plantation, my stock of all kinds, my household & kitchen furniture and my still during her natural life, after my just debts are paid. Item: I give and bequeath to my friend Henry Blunt, son of John Blunt Jr the following negros namely: Creasy, Betty, Else, Selah, Dillah, Willie, Preg, Pink, Parise, Ben, James, Airey, Zelpah & Beck, and their future increase, that is to say, after the death of my mother Sarah Drew, to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to Francis Ridley, son of Thomas Ridley Sr, the whole of my lands wheresoever and plantation whereon I now live after the death of my mother Sarah Drew to him and his heirs forever. Item: My will and desire is further is that after the death of my mother Sarah Drew, if there should remain any of my estate of any nature or kind whatsoever not already given away that that the same be sold & the money arising from the sale I give to Thomas Holladay, son of John Holladay, dec'd, to him and his heirs. And lastly, I do constitute and appoint my wife Ann Ridley & Henry Blunt my whole and sole Executors to this my Last Will and Testament.
