SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Robert Sheild, 1801 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- I, ROBERT SHEILD, of Southampton County do make and ordain this writing to be my Last Will in form and manner following: Item: I give to my daughter Nancy Sheilds my negroes Nicey & Jane, also one feather bed and furniture and ten pounds in cash. Item: I give to my daughter Elizabeth my negroes Andrew & Easter & one feather bed and furniture, this above mentioned I give to my two daughters to them and their heirs forever. To each of my daughters Nancy Stephenson and Elizabeth Summerell one cow and calf, to each; all the rest of my estate I give to my two sons John Sheild & Thomas Sheild, but fifty pounds to be made for Thomas Sheild out of my estate to be laid out on his education for my son John to raise out of my estate for my son Thomas after this I give to my two sons my land & still to be equally divided to them & their heirs forever. Item: I give to my son Thomas Sheild my negroes Charles & Jude to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give to my son John Sheild my negroes Jordan & Nan, all the rest & residue of my estate, if any, I give to my son Thomas Sheild, if any, to him and his heirs forever. I appoint Robert Exum with John Shield my Executors.
