SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Martha Smith, 18 Jan 1783 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: Martha Smith, Southampton Co, VA (1783) I, Martha Smith, of Southampton County being sick and weak of body but of sound and memory do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following. Imprimis: I give unto Eperim? Bailey, son of Joshua Bailey, my plantation whereon I now live and also my still to him and his heirs forever. My will and desire is that Negro Mill may have the use of the house wherein she now lives with ground sufficient for cotton, potatoes &c. Item: I give unto Edmund Bailey, my parish land and plantation to him & his heirs forever. Item: I lend the use of my land and plantation called Hallimans to Rhoda Sadler during her natural life then give sdi? land and plantation to her son, John Smith Sadler to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give unto Tryal Bailey two cows & calves & one feather bed & furniture. Item: I give unto Martha Bailey, daughter of Absalom Bailey one feather bed& furniture. Item: I give unto Burwell Brock, son of Sarah Brock, one desk also one watch. The remainder and residue of my estate of every kind I leave to be divided equally between six of my brothers and William Bailey, son of Elijah Bailey and my four sisters namely: Tryal Bailey, Joseph Bailey, Absalom Bailey, Edmund Bailey, Abidon Bailey and Joshua Bailey, Miriam Torsgrave, Sarah Brock, Morning Russell and Rhoda Sadler. I likewise constitute and appoint Abidon Bailey & Joshua Bailey my whole & sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament revoking and making void all other Wills and Testaments made by me heretofore.
