All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Simon TURNER, will dated 7 Jul 1761, proved 10 Dec 1762 Turner Simon Will In the Name of God Amen I Simon Turner of Southampton County being sick & weak of Body but of Sound & Perfect sense & Memory do make and appoint this to be my Last will & Testament - Impr's I Recommend my Soul to Almighty God that gave same in sure & Certain hope of a joyfull Resurrection of the & my Body I to the Earth to be Buried at the Descretion of my Ex'ors hereafter mentioned & as to what worldly Goods it hath Pleased God to bestow on me I Dispose of them in the following Manner - lying Item I give my Tract of Land ^ in Brunswick County on the Fox Branch Containing about three hundred & fifty Acres to my sons Simon & Willm_ to be devided by the Water Course of the said Fox Branch all that Part on the west side of the said Branch Containing by Esti- mation one hundred & seventy five Acres of Land I give to my son Simon to him & his Heirs forever. and all that Part of on the East side of the said Branch I give to my son William to him & his Heirs forever - Item I give my Tract of Land of one hundred & fifteen Acres of Land lying Joyning on Meherrin River in [page break] [p.] 411) Brunswick County to be devided between my son Arthur ["& William" struck] Thomas to them & their Heirs Thomas to have the Upper Part - Item I give to my son William the land left to me by the last Will & Testament of Francis Exum dec'ed to him & his heirs forever I give to my son William my Tract of Land lying in the Fork of Bear Creek in Johnson County in North Carolina Containing about six hundred Acres of Land left to him & his heirs forever. I give to my son William all my Part of the Crop that is on the said Land - Item I give to my son Arthur the upper Part of my Land in Southampton County whereon I now Live Accor- ding to the following description. Beginning at a hickory an Elbow Tree in the back Line Standing in a Bottomn near the Path that goes from my house to Henry Harris's then by a line of Markt Trees westward to a White oak Standing in the head of a Branch above my Plantation then Down the Various Courses of the Run of the said Branch to Meherrin River Containing by Estimation two hundred & fifty five Acres I give to my son Arthur my Tract of Land [in] Johnson County in North Carolina that [I] Purchased of James Arde also my also my Part of the Crop that is on the said Land to him & his heirs forever - Item I give to my son Thomas the Plantion whereon I now live & the Remainder of my said Tract of Land Lying in Johnson County in North Carolina whereof Drew A Bridge now Lives to him & his Heirs forever I give to my son Thomas all my [page break] [p.] 412) Part of the Crop that is on the sd. Parcel of Land whereon whereof Drew E Bridge now lives I give to my son William Arthur & Thomas all my Part of the Stock [of] Horses Cattle & ho'gs that is on my Plantation in Johnson County in North Carolina to be equally Devided amongst them - Item I give to Turner Bynum the Tract of land whereon my daughter Jennett Bynum now Lives to him & his Heirs forever Item I give to my sons Arthur & Thomas all the Benefitt of a Bond from Wm. Taylor in Johnson County in North Carolina to me for one hundred & fifty Acres of Land lying on the flatt Swamp to be equally Devided between them and their Heirs forever - Item I give to my son John all my Stock of Cattle & Hoggs that is on his Plantation on the Great Swamp in Brunswick County I give to my Daughter Milla all my Stock of Horses Cattle & Hoggs that is on my Plantation I[n] North Carolina & County of Northampton that I Purchased of Edward Megram[?] - Item I give to my son Simon my Smallest Still. I give to my son Thomas my largest Still I give to my son William one feather Bed & furniture I give to my son William one feather Bed & furniture I give to my Daughter Mille one feather Bed & furniture I give to my son Arthur one feather Bed & furniture I give to my son Thomas one feather Bed & furniture my Desire that they have their Choices[?] is here sett Down - Item I give to my son Willm_ five Negroes /viz/ Dick Charles Lucy Nauhunty James and Peter to him & his heirs forever Item I give to my Daughter Mille four Negroes ,viz, Jim Moses Silviah & Rose to her & her Heirs forever Item I give to my son Arthur three Negroes ,Viz, Jacob. Harry and Tabb to him & His Heirs forever - [page break] [p.] 413) Item I give to my son Thomas three Negroes, viz, Tom. little Jimmie & Annaca to him & his Heirs forever - Item I lend to my Daughter Jennett Bynum four Negros viz, Easter Landon fortune & Pompey dureing her natural Life & after her Decease to be equally devided amongst her Children viz. And on the Motion of the said Ex'or who made oath according to Law Certificate was granted him for Obtaining a Probat hereof in due form giving Security Richd.
