All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Thomas TURNER (1696-1771), will dated 4 Oct 1770, proved 11 Apr 1771 In the Name of God Amen the fourth day of October in the year 1770 I Thomas Turner Southampton County being Very sick and weak In body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto therefore Calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowin that it is apointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament that is to Say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the of God that gavith it and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christain At the Discreation of my Executors nothing doubting but at The general Resurrection I shall receive the Same again by The mighty power of God as touching such worldly Estate Wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I Give Amise and dispose of the Same in the following manner and from Imprimis I give and bequeath Itim my will and desire is that all my lands Shall be rented to the highest Bidder every years while my son Thomas Turner is twenty one years of Age then to be Sold to the highest bidder twelve Months Credit is to Given Item my desire is that if it Pleas God that three of my Sons Should die before my Son Thomas Turner is of age 21 that land Should not be Sold But equally devided among the rest of my Sons Item my will and desirs is that my Negroes Andrew Jim and Jacob Hanner Lettes Amay should be hired yearly while my Son Thomas Turner is of Age then they and their Increase to be sould to the highest bidder twelve months Credit is to be given all the remainder of my Estate consisting of my Stock of all kind and house hold goods to be sold to the Highest bidder Item My will and desire that after my son Thomas Turner Comes To the age of twenty one that all my Estate is to be Equally Devided among my Sons. Likewise I Constitute and appoint Capt. Nicholas Mag, get and William Kirby hole and sole Executors this my Last will and Testament, Thomas Turner ( ) John Edwards Signed Seald Joseph Everit in presents of us John Taylor At a Court held for the county of Southampton the 11th day of april 1771 This will was presented in Court by Nicholas Maget and Wm. Kirby the Executors therein named and proved by the Oath of John Edwards and Joseph Everit two of the Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be recorded And on the motion of the said Executors who maid oath according To Law certificate was granted them for obtaining a probat thereof In due form giving securty and thereupon &c.
