SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Etheldred Taylor, 20 Feb 1791 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Etheldred Taylor of the County of Southampton being of sound and disposing mind and memory and willing to prevent disputes in my family about my estate after my death do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following (to wit): Imprimis: I lend unto my beloved wife Elizabeth Taylor during her widowhood or untill my daughter Elizabeth Taylor arrives to the age of eighteen, sixty barrels corn, two good work horses, two thousand pounds good pork, twenty bushels wheat, six cows and calves, twelve ewes, two beds and furniture, two walnut tables, one walnut dressing .?.(two small ltrs-can't read), all my table linen, cupboard furniture, table and tea spoons, twenty pounds in money, six weeding hoes, six hitting? and four grubing hoes, four axes and my whipsaw also the four following slaves: David, Capt., Charles, Charles and Phillis, also David who is now sick, which estate I lend to my beloved wife Elizabeth Taylor for the purpose of educating and supporting my daughter Elizabeth Taylor. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Taylor one negro woman Easter and here incrrease to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Taylor when she shall arrive at the age of eighteen or at the intermarriage of my wife Elizabeth Taylor all the estate both real and personal lent to my said wife Elizabeth and the increase thereof which estate I give to my said daughter Elizabeth and her heirs forever. Item: Should the mine lately discovered in the Indian woods or in the Indian lands prove profitable, my will and desire is that my proportion after paying my debts be equally divided between my wife Elizabeth Taylor and my daughter Elizabeth Taylor. Item: My will and desire is that Easters child called Cherry be, when old enough bound to some good industrious woman till she is old enough to be manuipated and then set free. Lastly, I do appoint my beloved wife, my brother John Taylor and my relation Mr. Charles Taylor Executors to this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills heretofore made by me. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twentieth day of February 1791. The money arising from the same to be applied to the discharge of my debts, my wife having it in her power to keep the lands during the term she has the other estate left her and then for them to return with the rest of the estate lent her to my daughter Elizabeth provided she will under take to pay one hundred pounds to my creditors. I lend to Ann Milton alias Ann Bowser the use of the tract of land whereon she now lives during her natural life with priviledge to cut down one half thereof only after her death. I give and confirm a just right and title of the said or above mentioned land to Patsey Milton so called daughter to Ann Milton Junior to her and her heirs forever.
