SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - John Taylor, 10 Feb 1799 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will: John Taylor, Southampton Co, VA (1799) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I John Taylor Junior being of sound mind do make & ordain this my will and testament as follows: Imprimis, I desire all my just debts to be paid. 2ndly, I give and bequeath unto my sons William and Henry and their heirs all my lands to be equally divided between them at the time my son William is twenty one years of age which division shall be made by men appointed by the court having jurisdiction of the same. 3rdly, I lend to my beloved wife during her ("natural" crossed out) life all and singular my goods, chattles, estate, real and personal, for her support & support & maintenance & education of my children: William, Nancy, Eliza, Hannah, & Henry untill they shall severally come of age or the girls be married at which time it is my desire that he or she, my child so coming of age or be married, shall receive an equal proportion of all my estate, goods & chattles, to be equally divided between them, my children and my beloved wife, which division shall take place at the time my son William or the next surviving child becomes of age or if a girl, married, and such division shall be made by men appointed by court. This Will was presented in court by Robert Goodwyn, one of the Executors therein named and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court from the deposition of Ellis Gray Blake & from other circumstances that the said Will was duly prov'd by himself & Thomas Peele, another subscribing witness in April last & not then ordered to be recorded, therefor it is now ordererd to be recorded and on the motion of the said Robert Goodwyn who made oath according to law, a Probat is granted him on his giving security &c whereupon &c.
