SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Timothy Thorp, 27 Jan 1776 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: Timothy Thorp, St. Lukes Parish, Southampton Co, VA (1779) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Timothy Thorp of the Parish of St. Lukes, County of Southampton being of sound mind and memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (to wit): Imprimis: I give and bequeath to my nephew John T. Kichardson the tract of land wherein I now reside containing the whole of my lands on the three creeks and also one negroe boy called Tom. Item: I give and bequeath to my nephew John Person of William the tract of land lying and being on the Anglica Swamp with all its appurtenances and also one negroe boy called David. Item: I give and bequeath to my niece Peggy Ridley two negroes Thomas and Jenny with their increase. Item: I give and bequeath to my niece Patsey Thorp one negroe called Sam. Item: I give and bequeath to my nepphew John Person of Phillip one negroe called Tony. Item: I desire that all my estate be kept together for the benefit of my mother as long as she lives single and after her marriage or death (long space follows word "death" and appears that sentence continues with next Item.) Item: I desire that my estate be sold and equally divided betwixt the following persons viz: John T. Nichardson, John Person of Phillip, Dorothy Atherton, Peggy Ridley (Thorpe) Restoy. Item: My will and desire is that if any of the above legalees die, his her or their legacies be equally divided amongst the surviving ones. And lastly I do appoint Peterson Thorpe and Phillip Person Executors to this my Last Will and Testament. IN WITNESS whereof I have set my hand and seal this 27th day of January 1776.
