SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Martha Thorp, 21 Apr 1794 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Martha Thorp of Southampton County being of sound and disposing memory do make this my last will & testament as follows, viz: I give to John Harris, son of Edward, the use of my whole estate both real and personal be it of what kind soever untill my son Joseph Throp arrives to the age of 21 years, then my will & desire is that what is left of raising my children, the same be equally divided between my four youngest children, to wit: Pamelia Thorpe, Fanny Thorp, Sally Thorp & Joseph Thorpe, to them & their heirs forever. Should either of my 4 mentioned children marry before my son Joseph Thorp arrive to the age of 21 years, my will & desire is the said child so marrying immediately to receive his or her part as above, should other of my above children die without issue or under lawful age, I desire his or her part so dying to be equally divided between the surviving ones. And lastly, I nominate & appoint my two friends John Harris & James Harris Executors of this my Last Will & Testament hereby revoking all other Wills heretofore by me made.
