HARRIS [brackets & surname capitalization mine] [p] 778 [note in margin] James TURNER Will In the Name of God Amen I James TURNER of the County of Southampton & State of Virginia being week in body but of a Sound and disposing mind & memory thanks be to God for the Same and Calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life do make this my last Will and Testament in Manner following: Imprimis It is My Will and desire that my body be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors and my just debts Paid- Item I Give and bequeath to my son Edmund TURNER one half of my lands & one half of my mill to him and his heirs forever but if he Sould die before he arrives to the age of twenty one years, or without Lawfull Issue then I give the Said Land and the half of the Mill to my Son Benjamin TURNER to him and to his heirs forever- Item I Give and Bequeath to my Son Benjamin TURNER the other half of my Land & Mill to him and his heirs forever but if he Should die before he arrives to the age of twenty one Years, or without Lawfull Issue then I Give the Said land & half the Mill to my son Edmund TURNER, to him & his heirs forever.- Item I Give and Bequeath to my daughter Nancy TURNER one Negro Girl nam'd China to her & her heirs forever Item I Give & Bequeath the Remainder of my Negroes & all their future increase to my three children namely Edmund TURNER Benjamin TURNER & Nancy TURNER to be equally divided between them when my Son Edmund TURNER arrives to the age of twenty one years to them and their heirs forever- My will and desire is that the remainder of my estate herein ["-tofore" struck out] mentioned of what Kind or nature soever or wheresoever found to be Sold & the money arising from Such Sale to be equally divided between my three children above mentioned-. And lastly I do constitute and appoint Henry BLUNT William BLUNT Edmund TURNER and Richard BLUNT the whole and Sole executors of this my last will & testament In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal this 14th day of February 1797.
