SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - James Turner, 14 Feb 1797 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I James Turner of the County of Southampton & state of Virginia being now weak in body but of a sound and disposing mind & memory, thanks be to God for the same, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make this my last will and testament in manner following: It is my will and desire that my body be decently buried at the discretaion of my Executors and my just debts first paid. I give and bequeath to my son Edmund Turner one half of my lands & one half of my mill to him and his heirs forever but if he should die before he arives to the age of twenty one years, or without lawfull issue, then I give the said land and the half of the mill to my son Benjamin Turner, to him and to his heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Turner the other half of my land & mill to him and his heirs forever, but if he should die before he arives to the age of twenty one years or without lawfull issue, then I give the said land & half the mill to my son Edmund Turner, to him & his heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Turner one negro girl named China to her & her heirs forever. I give & bequeath the remainder of my negroes & all their future increase to my three children, namely: Edmund Turner, Benjamin Turner & Nancy Turner to be equally divided between them when my son Edmund Turner arrives to the age of twenty one years to them and their heirs forever. My will and desire is that the remainder of my estate not herein mentioned of what kind or nature soever or wheresoever found to be sold & the money arising from such sale to be equally divided between my three children above mentioned. And lastly, I do constitute and appoint Henry Blunt, William Blunt, Edmund Turner and Richard Blunt the whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will & Testament. And At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 15th day of May 1797 On the motion of the Executors, Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form giving security whereupon &c.
