I Joel Vick of the County of Southampton and State of Virginia, do hereby make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say: Item 1st: After my decease I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate by my executor herein after named. 2nd: I loan to my beloved wife Jincy Vick all the ballance (sic) of my estate real personal and perishable during the term of her life or widowhood; and it is my will and desire that my daughter Elisabeth Frances Vick shall remain and live with her mother during her mother's lifetime, if she chooses or wishes to do so. 3rd: After the death or marriage of my said wife I give and bequeath to my said daughter Elisabeth Frances Vick and her heirs forever, that part of my tract of land whereon the houses are situated (and whereon I now reside) lying on the north side up the branch which crosses my land containing one hundred and thirty five acres more or less. I also give and bequeath to her, one buffet and contents, one feather bed and furniture (the bed she calls hers, one clock, one chest, one desk, and six chairs, one walnut table, one pot and hooks. 4th: I give and bequeath to my daughter Edith Story one dollar. 5th: I give and bequeath to my grandson Bolling T. Vick one dollar. 6th: I give and bequeath to my son Davis Vick one feather bed and furniture (the bed he calls his.) 7th: I give and bequeath to my son Caleb E. Vick one feather bed and furniture (up the stairs. 8th: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally Jane Story one feather bed and furniture. 9th: I give and bequeath to my son Orris A. Vick, my shot gun. 10th: After the death or marriage of my said wife, I desire that all the ballance (sic) of my land and all the ballance (sic) of my personal or perishable estate which may then be in existence be sold on the ordinary terms of such sales, and the monies arising from the said sales together with my other money belonging to my estate, I give and bequeath to my following named six children to be equally divided between them to wit: Julia Story, Kirby Vick, Davis Vick, Sally Jane Story, Orris A. Vick, and Caleb E. Vick to them and their heirs forever. 11th: In case my said wife should marry I then give and bequeath to her such part of my estate as she would be entitled to under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia were I do die intestate. 12th: And lastly, I hereby nominate and appoint my friends Davis Barrett and Thomas B. Worrell, executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made.
