All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Joseph VICK (1692-1770), will dated 2 Mar 1769, proved 14 Jun 1770 In the name of God amen I Joseph Vick of Southampton County in Virginia being of sound and disposing mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of this body and that it is appointed for all men to die think it proper to make this my last will and testament in manner and form following revoking and disanulling all and every other wills by me heretofore made allowing this to be my only last will and testament, Item I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Priscilla Joyner 4 head of cattle to her and her heirs. Item I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Joyner two cows to her and her heirs. Item It is my will and desire that my plantation and land whereon I how live may be sold to the highest bidder and the money arising from the sale thereof to be applyd(sic) as hereafter directed. It is also my will and desire that my six nigroe(sic) slaves Viz: Nan, Lewis, Sharper, Wilson, Charles and Pompey with all the remainder part of my estate may be equally divided between my seven children viz: Sarah Gardener, James Vick, Isabel Joyner, and Priscilla Joyner and to their heirs forever. And lastly I appoint my two sons James and Matthew Vick to be executors to this my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this second day of March 1769. Joseph (his mark) Vick Witness Job Wright Robert Vick James Jordan Scott At a court held for the county of Southampton the 14th day of June 1770 this will was presented in court by James Vick and Matthey Vick the executors therein named and proved by the oath of Job Wright and by the solemn affirmation of James Jordan Scott two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
