All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Joshua VICK (1722-1767), will dated 11 Mar 1767, proved 11 Jun 1767 In the name of God amen I Joshua Vick of the county or Southampton and parish of St Lukes being of sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be given to almighty God for the same and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die and being possessed of estate real and personal do dispose of the same in manner and form following to wit: Item I give bequeath and demise(sic) unto my loving wife Elizabeth the use of two negroes during her natural life namely Patt and Hannah and the plantation whereon I now live, half of the stock of horses, cattle, sheep and hogs that I am now possessed with, half the household goods and after the decease of my said wife that they and their increase and the stock be equally divided between my son and two daughters and their heirs forever. Item I give bequeath and demise unto my daughter Ann and her hairs(sic) forever Rachel and Tom also one hundred and fifty acres of land joining William Thomas's land that he bought of Thomas Blunt to her and her heirs forever. Item I give bequeath and demise unto my daughter Beda my negroe man Chance and Judah also forty pounds current money of Virginia when she is married to her and her heirs forever. Item I Bequeath and demise unto my son William negroes Sarah, Jimmy and Bob also after my wifes decease the plantation and all the remainder of my lands to him and his heirs forever. Lastly my will and desire is that after my wifes decease my whole estate that shall be left after paying of my debts and legacies aforesaid be equally divided between my three children. I do also appoint my wife Elizabeth and my loving brother Jacob Vick and Arthur Vick executors of this my last will and testament, In witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of March 1767.
