All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Jacob VICK (1715-1789), will dated 20 Oct 1784, recorded 11 Sep 1789 Whereas I Jacob Vick of Southampton County being weak in body but of sound memory do make and ordain this writing in manner following as and for my last will and testament (to wit) I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Mourning Jordan any certain plantation tract or parcel of land containing by estimation 480 acres bounded and described as by letter of pattent(sic) granted to me bearing date the 3rd day of November 1750 is expreSsed(sic) to her and to her heirs and assigns forever. Item I lend to my loving wife Patience Vick the full maity(?) of the plantation lands and improvements whereon I now live also all my personal estate for and during her natural life or widowhood and no longer. Item I devise and bequeath to my son Jacob Vick the plantation whereon I how live with the remainder of my lands not disposed of containing estimation 745 acres to him and his heirs and aSsigns(sic) forever. Item I devise and bequeath to my daughter Lydda(sic) thirty pounds hard money to be paid after my wifes marriage or decease to her and to heir heirs forever. Item All the remainder of my estate of all kinds I desire may be equally divided in case my wife should marry between her and all my children in case of her death between all my children. I do constitute and appoint my loving wife Patience Vick and son JeSse(sic) to execute this my last will and testament. Witness my hand and seal this twentieth day of the tenth month one thousand seven hundred and eighty four. Jacob Vick Signed and sealed in presence of: Benjamin Whitfield Trial Bailey Martha (hermark) Bailey At a court held for the County of Southampton the 11th day of September 1789 this will was presented in court by Jefse(sic) Vick one of the executors therein named and proved by the solemn affirmation of Benjamin Whitfield and Trial Bailey two of the witnefses(sic) thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said executor who made afformation(sic) according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat thereof in due form giving security whereupon.
