All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Joel VICK, Sr. (abt 1771-1830), will dated 17 Sep 1830, recorded 18 Oct 1830 In the name of God Amen I Joel Vick Sr. of the County of Southampton in the state of Virginia being Very Low in healthy do make this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following Viz: 1st It is my will and desire that my wife Julia should be maintained out of my Estate. 2nd I give unto my daughter Eliza One Cow and Calf to her given(?) one Bed bed Stead and furniture also and(sic) Equal proportion of my other property with the other heirs. 3rd It is my will and desire that my Son Bolling Should have my Land providing he pays the other heirs their proportionable(sic) parts at the rate of Three hundred and fifty dollars for the whole of it. 4th If my Son Bolling should fail to pay the other heirs their proportionable parts at that rate, It is my desire that my Son Matthew Should have the Same Chance in the land as I have herein given my Son Bolling. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & my seal as my last Will and Testament this the 17th day of September 1830. Joel (hismark) Vick [Witnesses] Richard Jordan Vienna Vick Zacheus Pope At a court held for the County of Southampton the 18th day of October 1830 This last Will and Testament of Joel Vick Sr. decd. was proved by the oath of Richard Jordan, Vienna Vick and Zacheus Pope the Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And at a court held for the County aforesaid the 15th day of November 1830: On the motion of Matthew Vick (Julia Vick widow and relict of the said Joel Vick having relinquishes(sic) her right of administration to the said Matthew Vick) who made oath and together with John Hargrave and Selah Ellsworth his securities entered into and acknowledged a Bond in the penalty of two thousand dollars Conditioned as the Law directs Certificate is granted the Said Matthew Vick for obtaining letters of administration on the Said Joel Vick's estate with his will aforesaid annexed in due form.
