Samuel VICK (1745-1785), will dated 11 Feb 1785, proved 9 Jun 1785 

In the name of God. I Samuel Vick of Southampton county being of perfect mind 
and memory do make & ordain this as and for my last will & testament & do 
dispose of my Estate as follows: 

First  I give the land whereon I now live unto my wife Elizabeth during her life 
or widowhood and after her life or widowhood I give the same to my daughter 
Peggy & if my daughter Peggy should die without lawful heir I give the same unto 
my brother Shadrach Vick and his heirs for ever. 

Item  My will is that my debts should be paid out of my Estate after my decease 
and if any thing then remain I give it unto my wife Elizabeth during her life 
or widowhood & after her life or widowhood then if any thing should yet remain I 
give the same to my daughter Peggy, & if my daughter should die without lawful 
heir, I give the same to my Brother Arthur Vick and his heirs. 

I likewise constitute and appoint Shadrach Vick and Nathan English  Executors of 
this my last will and testament. Given under my hand and seal this 11th day of 
February 1785.

       At a court held for the county of Southampton the 9th day of June 1785. 
This will was presented in court by Shadrach Vick & Nathan English the Executors 
therein named and proved by the oaths of Drewry Beal & Edmund Ashley witnesses 
thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of the said Executors who 
made oath according to law  certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probat 
thereof in due form giving Security. Whereupon &c.
