SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - John Wilkinson, 11 Jun 1799 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen, I John Wilkinson of Southampton County being in perfect sense & memory do this 11th day of June one thousand seven hundred & ninety nine make & ordain this my last will & testament. Imprimis - I give to my son Nathaniel Wilkinson all my lands on the south side of Mercarin River also 2 lots in Murfees Barn?. Item, I give to my son John Lewis Wilkinson the tract (of) land I now live on which is on the north side of Mercarrin River, part lies in Virginia & part in North Carolina. My will & desire is that my negroes be continued on my plantation with the stock &c. untill my son Nathaniel Wilkinson shall arive to the age of twenty one & then my hole estate to be equally divided between them provided my son John Lewis Wilkinson doth give up his right to the land which came by his mother should he claim it, my will is that Nathaniel Wilkinson should have four thousand dollars more than John Lewis Wilkinson when the estate is divided. My desire is also that John Lewis Wilkinson shall be first in possession of his estate when his brother arives of age & be free to act & do for himself - my Executors has full power to make sale of my slaves which I have not set free should they behave amiss & also sell any part of my stock & household firniture for the advantage of my before nam'd sons - My negro woman Liddy & her children: Peggy & Eve is to be set free & be maintained out of my estate untill Nathaniel Wilkinson comes of age - My will & desire is also for Peggy & Eve to have four hundred dollars cash out of my estate before tis divided when Nathaniel arives of age - should both my sons, Nathaniel & John Lewis Wilkinson depart this life before either of them should (have) lawfull heir, my land to go to my brother James Wilkinson. I do hereby appoint my loving brother James Wilkinson & my brother in law Benjamin Weldon Williamson, my friend Ely Eley & Cordaso? N. Bynum my hole & sole Executors to this my Last Will & Testament & they are not to give any security return any inventory account sales to court & act & do as the best for the advantage of my two sons. Wilkinson, two of the Executors therein named (liberty being reserved for the others to qualify hereafter) and James Gee, S. Kello, William Blunt, John Bynum & Simon Everitt deposing that they believe the said Will be wholly written & sign'd by the Testator himself, it is ordered to be recorded.
