SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - George Washington, 2 Oct 1800 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will: George Washington, Nottoway Parish, Southampton Co, VA (1800) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I George Washington of Nottoway Parrish and county of Southampton being weak in boddy, but of perfect mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament; and do dispose of my estate as follows: First, I give desire and bequeath unto my son William Washington the plantation and all the lands I now oversee. I give the same to him and his heirs & assigns forever. Also four negroes Bob and Betty, Minto & negro boy Ned, I say I give the aforesaid negroes to my son William and his heirs and assigns forever. Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my grandson Henry Johnson, son of Matthew Johnson and Sally, his wife, our negro boy named Davy to him and his heirs forever. Fourthly, I give and bequeath unto my son William Washington my sorrel mare and black horse to him and his heirs and assigns forever., Fifthly, I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Easter Washington one bay mare by the anme of Poll, to her and her heirs forever. Sixthly, and lastly, I leave the remainder part of my estate of what kind or nature soever after paying my just debts and legacies to be sold and equally divided amongst all my children then living. I also nominate and appoint my son William Washington and David Washington my whole and sole Executors to this my Last Will and Testament. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of October one thousand eight hundred.
