Wills: John Westbrook, Southampton Co, VA (1785) (partial)

IN THE NAME OF GOD amen, I John Westbrook of Southampton County being 
weak and sick in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do 
make & ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner & form following:

First & foremost I recommend my soul to almighty God who gave it and as 
to my worldly goods I dispose of in the following manner:

Item: I lend unto my beloved wife Lucy Westbrook all my land and two 
negroes namely:Silak and Jane for and during her natural life together 
with all their future increase.

Item:I give to my children Dorris? Westbrook & John Penson Westbrook 
all the above negroes lent to my wife after my said wife's decease to 
be equally divided between them and their heirs forever.

Item: I give to my daughter Dorcas Westbrook my negro girl called 
Pa..s for her to receive her when she, my said daughter, shall arrive 
to the age of eighteen years or then marriage of my said wife whichever 
shall b..... ....to her and her heirs forever.

Item:I give and bequeath to my son John Penson Westbrook my  negro 
Harr...to be received?? at the marriage of my wife or at the 
arrival of tw.......years which may first happen to him and his 
heirs forever.

Item: I leave all the rest of my estate both real and personal after 
all my ....debts being paid to be s.l...... and equally divided by 
three? .....that shall be appointed by this Court between my said 
wife and children ... for my said wife to have the liberty to 
receive any ...rt of r.......d children proportion of said personal 
estate at the appraisement on giving? ........
