The house is .1 mile from road. Spotsylvania County The graveyard is about 200 yards back of the house. It is enclosed by an iron fence and has six stones with the following inscriptions: Isabella J. Herndon Born November 1, 1818 Died June 26, 1847 Lucy A. Herndon Born Dec. 15, 1831 Died April 20, 1838 Nancy M. Herndon Born Oct. 25, 1813 Died July 29, 1815 Henry M. Herndon Born July __ 1834 Died Jan. 12, 1835 Jacob W. Herndon, Jr. Born Jan. 22, 1827 Died ____ 1836 They that turn to righteousness shall shine as the stars for ever and ever. Here, Lord, are we and the children Thou didst give us. To the Memory of Jacob Herndon who advanced and died in the faith of his Lord and Savior. Born June 9, 1784 Died June 18, 1847 (1936) Mr. W. L. Kent says that he remembers when Mrs. Herndon was buried there. It was during the War Between the States and probably for that reason her grave was not marked.
