Henry, Esq. governor of this state for the time being and his successors in the sum of ten thousand pounds current money to the payment of which will and truly to be made, we bind ourselves jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 5th day of September 1786. THE CONDITION of this obligation is such that whereas the above bound John Carter, is appointed assistant inspector of tobacco at Fredericksburg Warehouse in the County of Spotsylvania by comissioner from under the hand and seal of the Govnor of this state. Now if the said John Carter do and shall well and truly perform the duties of his said office according to the directions of an Act of Assembly for reducing the several acts of assembly for the inspection of tobacco into one act then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force.
