I, Thomas Minor of the County of Spotsylvania in the state of Virginia do hereby declare that I was an officer in the Continental Line of the Army of the Revolution and served as such until I was ----- under the act of 3rd or 31st Oct 1780 & in consequence also of the time for which my company was enlisted in which capacity I was at the battle of Yorktown – at which period I was a Captain and when in actual command of my company belonged to the second regiment of the Virginia line . The reason why I never received certificates or commens----n is that then I was in affluent circumstances and not in need of any bounty from the Gov't and I never applied for the same known the fact that at that time, they were not worth the trouble of procuring. I always knew that I was entitled to such bounty, because I held myself ready at any time to repair to whatever part I might have been ordered, consequently and virtually was in service until the end of the War when my services were known to me nor to be further required, then & not till then did I consider myself as free from my engagements to ----- during the war. Witness my hand, this 8th day of January 1830. Tho Minor. Before me, George Turner, a Justice of the Peace in Spotsylvania Co., Va., personally appeared Jas. Williams & A.
