This copy contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives. cotterkaren@yahoo.com ************************************************************************ “Crow’s Nest” was the seat of the Daniel family so long prominent in Stafford County, VA. It is situated on that point of land between Potomax Creek and Accakeek Creek. The old house and even its site has long since disappeared and the graveyard of this once prominent family is buried in dense woods and underbrush. The tombstones have been broken up by vandals and roaming stock and the elements have disintegrated the remaining fragments. There is not a tombstone in the cemetery in one piece. I was able to bring enough pieces together to decipher the inscriptions on three of them completely and to find the name of the party to whom the fourth was erected. All were once handsome stones. There is evidence that several other large tombstones have been broken up and carried away as fragments remain of several different types of stone which are completely different from the four remaining. “A testimonial of love and veneration for one who merited and possessed the veneration and love of all by qhom he was known one faithful and examplary in every domestic and social relation in every duty of a christian.” TRAVERS DANIEL SENR Born May 26, 1741 Died June 28, 1824 C.
