November court 1786 On motion of Sarah Ashby, widow of John Ashby, late of this county, who died a solder in the army of the United States due proof being thereof their words, the constable order it to be certified, that the said Sarah, aforesaid is entitled to the pension, or other relief by law, provided and directed in such cases; the said Sarah being ? in law of indigent circumstances. (signature unreadable) Stafford Co. December court 1790 Ordered that it be certified that Sarah Ashby, widow of John Ashby, late a private in the 3rd Va. Regt. The pensioner of the state is still living and continues an object deserving of assistance of the public as a pensioner, her situation and circumstances having little altered except that her children have grown up.
