Spotswood, John                Pen. 399                   1785-1789

  This is to certify that John Spotswood received a wound by a ball at the 
Battle of German Town which shattered his right thigh bone, that he lanquished 
under immense pain in a most dangerous many months, that his confinement was 
serious and painfull as most pieces of the bone were extracted and numerous deep 
incisions made to discharge good collections of matter.  And it is my opinion he 
is liable to further confinement and I feel his wounds will break out afresh, if 
indisposed by fever and which has happened every year since his misfortune.
