Imogene Elise "Mema" Lowe Asbell 

  Suffolk - Imogene Elise "Mema" Lowe Asbell, 93, loving mother and 
grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2015.  Born in 
Ivor, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Luke and Minnie Lowe, and 
predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William Jesse Asbell, Jr.  Elise 
retired from the A&P Nut Co.  She was an active member of Wilroy Baptist 
Church and the Naomi Sunday School Class.  Elise will be dearly remembered 
for her love of family and friends.  She was well-known for her homemade 
rolls, fried chicken, butterbean pie, apple jacks, and jelly.  Left to 
cherish her memory are three daughters, Connie Insley (Kenny), Jenny Holleman 
(Melvyn), and Sandra Ward (Melvin); a son, Fred Asbell (Linda); a sister 
Juanita "Pete" Rouse; grandchildren Kathy Hines, Tina Insley, Karen Bourne 
(Corey), Clay Holleman (Heather), Pam Callahan, Robin Hinton (Mark), Mandi 
Asbell, Drey Asbell (Heather) and Logan Bourne; great grandchildren Weston, 
Cody, Morgan, Quinby, Trevor, Austin, Christopher, Ryan, Bryson, Parker, 
Gavin, Riley, and Grayson; special nephew Billy Walsh (Carolyn); and many 
nephews and nieces.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, 
December 22, at Wilroy Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. 
Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.  The visitation will be Monday 
evening from 7-8 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory and at other times at 
the residence of Fred and Linda Asbell.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be 
made to the Alzheimer's Association , 6350 Center DR, STE 102 Norfolk, VA 
23502 or Wilroy Baptist Church, 306 Williams RD, Suffolk, VA 23434.
