She was the wife of Roy E. Adkins, and the daughter of the late William Gay and the late Mrs. Rosa Walker Gay. A retired private duty nurse’s aide, Mrs. Adkins was a native of Isle of Wight County and a member of Community Baptist Church. Other than her husband, survivors include six sons, Robert L. Bryant and Samuel T. Bryant, both of Ivor; Marshall L. Bryant, Jr., of Suffolk; Jimmy N. Bryant of Windsor; and William R. Bryant and Rawls E. Bryant, both of Smithfield; two sisters, Lucille G. Duke of Windsor and Dana G. Carr of Baltimore; a brother, Linwood Gay of Baltimore; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Revs. Byron McCreary and Roger Johnson. Burial will be in Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today and at 137 Murphy’s Mill Road. [Frances (GAY; Mrs. Roy E.)
