Merlie Babb 

  Merlie Knight Babb, 80, of 3017 Carolina Road, died Saturday in Louise Obici 
Memorial Hospital.  She was a native of Driver and the widow of Luther Lee 
Babb.  She was a daughter of the late John Edward Knight and the late Evia 
Howell Knight. 

  She was a member of Cypress Chapel Christain Church and its ladies' Bible 
class and was an honorary member of the Agnes Brittle Circle. 

  Survivors include two daughters, Margaret B. Speight and Hazel B. Sadler, 
both of Suffolk; a brother, Chester Knight of Hampton; three grandchildren; 
and three great-grandchildren. 

  The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral 
Home by Revs. Willis Dowling and O.R. Hardy.  Burial will be in Cypress Chapel 
Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. 
today.  Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
