A native of Chowan County, he was the husband of Mrs. Jane Etta Barnes Boyce and the son of the late John Minton and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Outlaw Boyce. He was a retired farmer and a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church. Other survivors include a daughter, Miss Nina Lee Boyce of the home; a son, Noah Gibson Boyce of Whaleyville Station, Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. Cecilia Norfleet of Suffolk and Mrs. Charity Bennett of Norfolk; a brother, Thornton N. Boyce of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren; and a great grandchild. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home has charge.
