Briggs Joseph Henry Briggs, 74, died Saturday night in his home at 914 Wilroy Road. A native of Gates County, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Nina White Briggs and a son of Martin and Mrs. Lenora Briggs. He was a retired electrician of Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church and the Men's Baraca Class. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leslie Frank Nelms Jr., two sons, Haywood W. Briggs and Herbert L. Briggs, all of Suffolk; and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home by Rev. Donald Dunlap. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Nelms at 219 Bedford Place.
