Fort Myers, Fla., a native of Harrison, Ky., died Saturday at his home. He was the husband of Thelma Barton Baird. Formerly of Suffolk, he retired from S.K. and Jack McNees Baird Contracting Co. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church, Suffolk. Survivors include two daughters, Susanne McNees Baird of Suffolk and Jacqueline Burdon of Columbia, S.C.; one stepson, Richard M. Barnett of Elliston, Va.; a brother, Raymond Miller Baird Jr. of Suffolk; two grandchildren; and and two stepgrandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by Rev. Harold Fuss. Burial will be on Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad. The family will be at the Holiday Inn, room 117. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
