MARY COWLEY BYRD

   SUFFOLK - A funeral service for Mrs. Mary Cowley Byrd, 66, was held Monday 
at 2 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

   Mrs. Byrd died Friday at 1:40 p.m. in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

   A native of Tarboro, N.C., she was the wife of J.A. Byrd Jr.

   She was a retired nurse and a member of Wilroy Baptist Church.

   Other survivors include a daughter, Miss Ann Byrd of Franklin; a son, J.A. 
Byrd III of Whireville, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Irene Nixon of Chesapeake; two 
brothers, George Cowley of Colorado and Frank Cowley of Raleigh, N.C.; and 
four grandchildren.
