Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Bryan Hobden. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Byrum died Sunday in a Richmond hospital. A native of Nansemond County, he was the husband of Acene Carter Byrum. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Virginia Tractor Pullers Association, where he was known as "Leroy." Other survivors include a daughter, Charlene Richardson of Terry Hill, Pa.; two sons, Curtis Alvin Byrum of Honaker and Herbert Elton Byrum of Waverly; three sisters, Mrs. Glenn Holland of Windsor and Alice Byrum and Grace David of Suffolk; five brothers, Percy E. Byrum, Hosea R. Byrum, W. Jarvis Byrum and Bobby J. Byrum of Suffolk and Lewis F. Byrum of Windsor; and four grandsons. Memorial donations may be made to Brandon Episcopal Church of Waverly Rescue Squad.
