JAMES WILLIE BRINKLEY

   SUFFOLK - Funeral services for James Willie Brinkley, 71, were held 
Wednesday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle.  Burial 
was in Cypress Chapel Church cemetery.

   Pallbearers were: Frank Ellis, Delaney Byrd, Randolph Klaagis, Kenneth 
Babb, Linwood Dail, James Forsythe, Charles B. Babb and John W. Brinkley.

   Brinkley died Monday in Portsmouth General Hospital.

   He was a native of Nansemond County and the husband of Virginia Byrd 
Brinkley.  He was retired from the salvage business.  He was a member of 
Cypress Chapel Christian Church.

   Other survivors include two daughters, Amelia B. Hedgepeth of Suffolk 
and Rosamond Butler of Carrsville; three sons, W. Timothy Brinkley and 
Joseph O. Brinkley of Suffolk, and Challis T. Brinkley of Ivor; a sister, 
Mary B. Wilkins of Suffolk; three brothers, H. Henry Brinkley and Forest 
Brinkley of Suffolk, and Herman Brinkley of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren; 
and three great-grandchildren.

Nansemond Co. native, d. 12 Jan 1981, Portsmouth, age 71, 
interred in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery*, 14 Jan 1981,
