Brinkley James Willie Brinkley, 71, of 106 Kilby Avenue died Monday in Portsmouth General Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County, the husband of Mrs. Virginia Byrd Brinkley, and a son of the late Joseph Henry and Mrs. Sarah Babb Brinkley. He was retired from the salvage business. He was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Amelia B. Hedgepeth of Suffolk and Mrs. Rosamond Butler of Carrsville; three sons, W. Timothy Brinkley and Joseph O. Brinkley of Suffolk, and Challis T. Brinkley of Ivor; a sister, Mrs. Mary B. Wilkins of Suffolk; three brothers, H. Henry Brinkley and Forest Brinkley of Suffolk, and Herman Brinkley of Portsmouth: 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Harrell Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial was in Cypress Chapel Church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Frank Ellis, Delaney Byrd, Randolph Klaagis, Kenneth Babb, Linwood Dail, James Forsythe, Charles B. Babb and John W. Brinkley. Brinkley died Monday in Portsmouth General Hospital.
