WILLIAM CHANEY

   SUFFOLK - Funeral services for William Chaney Sr., 80, will be held today, 
Thursday at 2:30 p.m.in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Revs. James R. 
Hughes and O.R. Hardy. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

   Chaney died Tuesday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

   He was a native of Hagerstown, Md. And the husband of Lucille Russell 
Chaney.  He was a retired maintenance employee for the Virginia Department of 
Highways.  He was a member of Somerton United Methodist Church.

   Other survivors include four daughters, Ethel C. Hudlow of Forest City, 
N.C. and Barbara C. Brinkley, Margaret C. Cornette, and Rose C. Gayle of 
Suffolk; five sons, William Chaney Jr. of Portsmouth, Henry L. Chaney and 
Johnny Chaney of Suffolk, Herman L. Chaney of Amelia County, Va. and Jack 
Chaney of Windsor; 31 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
