Duck, 77, died Jan. 3, 1989, in Obici Hospital. He was a native of Franklin. [sic*] He had retired as a locomotive operator for the Lone Star Cement, Inc. He also worked with the City of Suffolk as a parking lot attendant. He was a member of Trinity Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Elsie S. Duck; three daughters, Clara Ann D. Crawford of Portsmouth, Mary D. Jones of Maudlin, S.C., and Sarah D. Crawford of Suffolk; two sons, William J. Duck of Windsor and Richard "Dickie" Duck of Suffolk; two sisters, Susie D. Carpenter of Franklin and Florence G.D. Nixon of Suffolk; two brothers, Henry Duck of Portsmouth and J.B. Duck of Smithfield; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in Holly Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Byron McCreary. The family will receive friends Friday at the home of Sarah D. Crawford, 1141 Turner Dr. R.W. Baker and Co.
