Ellis William Walter Ellis, 73, of Suffolk, died Sunday, Aug. 13. A native of Sunbury, N.C., he was the son of the late John W. Ellis and Eunice Nelson Ellis. He retired as a civil service worker for Comm Teletype operator. He was a member of First Baptist Church, North Main Street. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Survivors include a sister, Louise E. Reyor of Port Orange, Fla.; a brother, Melvin T. Ellis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a niece, Mary Roeder, and a nephew, Jerry Dew. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Friends may join the family from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hill Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk 23439.
