CAROLYN PIERCE GODWIN

   SUFFOLK - Carolyn Pierce Godwin, 48, of the 1600 block of Pitchkettle Road, 
a bookkeeper, died Jan. 22, in Norfolk hospital.

   Mrs. Godwin, an Isle of Wight County native, worked for Tadlock Tire Co. 
She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.

   Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Godwin; her parents, Gibson J. 
and Mary E. Pierce*; four sisters, Janet P. Eure, Fannie P. Lynn, Barbara P. 
Piland and Jerry P. Powell; a brother, R. Percy Pierce, all of Suffolk.

   A graveside service was conducted Saturday in Holly Lawn Cemetery by the 
Rev. Robert J. Day. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Unit of 
Norfolk General Hospital.
