Mr. Gardner, a Nansemond County native, was a member of Somerton Friends Meeting and Holland Ruritan Club. He was the widower of Mary Edith Camp Gardner. Survivors include a son, Joseph D. Gardner of Ivor; and three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Friday in Somerton Friends Meeting by Herschel M. Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery. Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
