All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Mrs. Pocahontas Holland Mrs. Pocahontas Whitfield Holland, 84, of 4501 Whaleyville Blvd. died Monday at 4:35 a.m. in a Virginia Beach nursing home. A native of Nansemond County, she was the widow of G. Romie Holland. She was a member of Liberty Spring Congregational Christian Church and its Ladies Bible Class. She is the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Cherrie H. Holland. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Garland Bridger of Newport News and Mrs. Raleigh A. Privott of Richmond; a son, J.C. Whitfield of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. Gertie Ellis of Suffolk and Mrs. Ava Elise Moody of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Tracy D. Floyd Jr. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad. The family will be at her home.
