A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Livey Joyner and Victoria Chapman Joyner. After graduating from Lakeview Nursing School in 1947, Mrs. Harvell was a registered nurse specializing in surgical nursing. She began her career with Lakeview Hospital, which became Lakeview Clinic and finally Lakeview Medical Center, where she gave over 30 years of service. She was affiliated with the Medical College of Virginia. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Clifford E. Harvell Jr.; a son, Clifford E. "Gene" Harvell III; five sisters, "Nina" J. Turner of Smithfield, Goldie J. Carr and Ruby Nell J. Perry, both of Suffolk, Hazel J. Berryman of Surry, and Mable J. "Deanie" Holland, Isle of Wight County; and two grandchildren, Sarah E. Harvell and Jarratt E. Harvell, both of Williamsburg. The funeral will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Bruce A. Havens in Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Suffolk Christian Church Memorial Fund, 216 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
