Born Oct. 6, 1917, in Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late James and Mallie Harcum Tidwell. Mrs. Harrell was predeceased by her first husband, Talmage Matthews and her sister, Emily Bryant. She was a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, William T. Harrell; son, Ronald L. Matthews and his wife, Mary Catherine, of Suffolk; daughter, Paige Matthews Green and her husband, Barry, of Richmond; sister, Helen Taylor of Suffolk; stepchildren, Thomas Harrell and Rosemary Dorow, both of Suffolk; grandchildren, Rhonda King and her husband, Mitchell, of Suffolk, Jason Matthews of Philadelphia, Matthew Harrell of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Jonathan Harrell of Nags Head, N.C.; step grandchildren, Jillian Green of Hampton, Tommy Harrell and Philip Eason of Suffolk; and special friend, Faye McLaurin of Suffolk. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Liberty Spring Christian Church by the Revs. Sallye Hardy and Tommy Reynolds. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, and other times at 137 Whaley Street. Memorial donations may be made to Liberty Spring Christian Church Memorial Fund, 4213 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23434, or the Oncology Unit of Obici Hospital, 1900 N.
