George D. Harrell 

  George Daniel Harrell, 85, of 4769 Desert Road died Saturday in a hospital. 
He was a native of Gates County, N.C., and the husband of Mrs. Minnie Winslow 
Harrell. 

  He was a member of Parkers United Methodist Church, Gates County, and was a 
retired farmer. 

  Other survivors include three daughters, Miss Sarah Elizabeth Harrell of the 
home, and Mrs. Doris H. Green and Mrs. Betty Joyce Britton of Suffolk; three 
sons, William M. Harrell and John N. Harrell of Suffolk, and Clarence S. 
Harrell of Kenansville, N.C.; two half sisters, Mrs. Evie Temple of Norfolk 
and Miss Carrie Umphlett of Gates, N.C.; a half brother, Willie Umphlett of 
Suffolk; and seven grandchildren. 

  A funeral was set for today at 2 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home. 
Burial will be in Harrell Family Cemetery. 

  He was the son of the late John and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Edwards Harrell.

His mother, "Sallie" Sarah Elizabeth (EVERETT) HARRELL (1867 - 1948), 
   2m. Henry UMPHLETT.  She is buried in Parkers Methodist Church Cemetery, 
   Hazelton, Gates Co., NC.
