NEWSOM JONES SUFFOLK - Mary Newsome [sic; Newsom*] Jones, 94, of the 200 block of Holladay St., died Feb. 27, in a Portsmouth hospital. Mrs. Jones, a Southampton County native, was a member of Trinity Christian Church and the widow of Thomas A. Jones. Survivors include a daughter, Gracie J. Gillespie of Gates County, N.C.; three sons, William S. Jones, John C. Jones and Clarence L. Jones, all of Suffolk; a sister, Eva L. Newsome of Suffolk; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren. A graveside service was conducted Monday in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. John Smith. Hill-Underwood Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Mary Ethel (NEWSOM; Mrs. Thomas A.)
