A native of Portsmouth, she was the wife of Alva Collins Perry Sr. and a daughter of Mrs. Edna M. Clarke Mathias of Suffolk and the late Jewell E. Mathias. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a bookkeeper for Haynes Furniture Co., Suffolk and Virginia Beach stores. Besides her widower and mother, she is survived by three sons, Bruce Allen Gardner, Michael Anthony (Tony) Gardner of Suffolk and Alva Collins Perry Jr. of Windsor; five sisters, Mrs. John H. Feldner and Mrs. Phillip Lewis of Portsmouth, Mrs. Homer Holcomb of Chula Vista, Calif., Mrs. James Ellis and Mrs. Willie Rae Rose of Suffolk; three brothers, Maylon E. Mathias and Michael Mathias of Portsmouth and Edward R. Mathias of Suffolk. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the I.O. Hill Funeral Home by Rev. N.C. Starling.
